Lineage: Unknown, but possibly has the genetics of a Mexican, Thai, and Afghan landraces.
Historical Context: The first known appearance of Trainwreck was in Arcata, California — a city in NorthCal's Emerald Triangle — in the 1970s. It is alleged to have been grown next to railroad tracks, which were necessary to transport Redwood Tree lumber down the coast. Legend has it that two brothers crossed a Mexican x Thai Sativa with an Afghani Indica, and while they were heading to harvest, a train crashed near their spot. In haste, they took the plant and fled the police as quickly as possible, naming the strain Trainwreck. The strain became a West Coast staple and then began to spread across the US in the 1980s.
Breeder: Two Brothers from Arcata, California
